Reflective Summary of the E-Portfolio Experience
Pursuing my MS in Instructional Design Technology through University of South Florida has provided me with a blend of practical skills, theoretical knowledge and career advantages that have made it a highly beneficial and rewarding experience. The creation of the e-portfolio has been a challenge, but it was also a reaffirming exercise that illuminated the development of my educational evolution.
When I consider what I could have done differently regarding the artifacts used in my portfolio, there is really nothing that I can think of that I would’ve done differently. I have relied on the mentorship of my instructors throughout the program to give me direction and share their insights. Their experience and guidance have been a source of strength and understanding which will later equip me to avoid common pitfalls and a new perspective. Every challenge has yielded a positive learning experience. Their constructive criticism and supportive advice provided an environment where I felt empowered to take risks, make mistakes and learn from them ultimately learning the skills necessary to excel.
What I have appreciated through this experience of portfolio development was having the opportunity to connect all the knowledge and experiences to the professional standards. Through the experience I was able to reflect on my growth of understanding and ability. It was also exciting to see how relevant and meaningful my education is to the field. As a former classroom educator, I felt I had a strong foundation of understanding of learning and teaching, but the intersection of the technological considerations produced a whole different perspective for me.
I am eager to graduate this IDT program with the tools to design effective learning experiences, to be able to adapt to varied educational contexts, and remain at the forefront of a rapidly evolving field. The program has provided me with a wide range of competencies, but the portfolio will serve as a showcase of my IDT abilities through demonstration of skills, evidence of work, illustration of problem-solving skills. This IDT portfolio will serve as a powerful tool for highlighting my strengths and expertise as an instructional designer and helping me to stand out in a competitive field.
